I Dan Black Belt
Requirements

Time:
  • Minimum 12 months active training (at least 2 classes per week) 
  • Must complete Community Service Project
Stances:
  • No new stances
Kicks:
  • 360o Hook Kick
  • 180° Hook Kick
  • Flying Hook Kick
  • Combination and Consecutive Jump Kicks
  • Multiple Kicking 4 Kicks Combination and Consecutive
  • In addition, the Instructor will give the student a list 20 more kicks and combinations to do at testing
Patterns:
Step Sparring:
  • Model Sparring
  • Prearranged Step Sparring
  • 1 Step 
  • 2 Step
  • 3 Step
Self-Defense:
  • Ho Sin Sul demonstration, 2 minute continuous demonstration against two opponent involving strikes and holds.  Weapons are allowed at this level.
Breaking:
  • Jump Kick approved by the Instructor
  • 2 Breaks of Student's choice, may include a hand break on wood or roof tiles, conditions apply.
Tournament Competition:
  • A student must participate in at least two tournaments between I Dan Black Belt and testing for II Dan Black.
Knowledge:
  • What is the Kwang Gae pattern diagram, number of moves and meaning?
  • What is the Po Eun pattern diagram, number of moves and meaning?
  • What is the Ge Baek pattern diagram, number of moves and meaning?
  • There will be a comprehensive written or oral test, depending on candidate's ages of all color belt knowledge.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must create a pattern with a minimum of 24 moves, it must be in written form to be turned in at testing.  Candidate must also teach the pattern to 3 other students who will demonstrate the pattern at testing.
  • Candidate must learn one weapon and demonstrate at least one form and One Step with that weapon.
  • Candidate must demonstrate practical application of one Pattern from beginning to end with partners, Candidate may not use Chon-Ji
  • Candidate must assist one other student in Dan testing. 
  • Candidate must teach 20 hours of classes.  Candidate must provide a written log of teaching hours.
  • Candidate must present a current Taekwon-Do history.  Check Instructor Page for format.
