2nd Gup Red Belt Requirements

All 2nd Gup Red students are required to pass off Patterns, Step Sparring, Self Defense and Breaking before permission is given to test.  Click here for Pass Off Guidelines.

Time:
  • Minimum 6 months active training (at least 2 classes per week).  A student must attend at least 50 classes during the six months prior to testing, classes beyond six month do not count towards testing.  Multiple classes taken on the same day count as one class.
  • Must Complete Pass-Off Sheet
  • Close Ready Stance "C"
  • Vertical Stance
Kicks:
  • 360o Jump Back Kick
  • Front Checking Kick
  • Side Checking Kick 
  • Flying Twist Kick
  • Flying Vertical Kick 
  • Multiple Kicking 4 Kicks Combination and Consecutive
  • In addition, the Instructor will give the student a list of kicks and combinations to do at testing
Patterns:
  • Hwa-Rang
  • Toi-Gye
  • Joong-Gun
  • Yul-Gok
  • Won-Hyo
  • Do-San
  • Dan-Gun
  • Chon-Ji
Step Sparring:
  • Model Sparring
  • Prearranged Step Sparring
  • 1 Step (The student must perform 15 different 1 Steps)
  • 2 Step
  • 3 Step
Self-Defense:
  • 20 Self-Defense 
Breaking:
  • 360o Jump Back, Jump Turning Kick or Flying Twist Kick
  • Non-Supported Hand Break, technique is the student's choice(conditions apply)
  • A student may choose their own break, but it must be approved of by the Instructor no less than 2 weeks prior to testing.
Tournament Competition:
  • A student must participate in at least ONE tournament between 2nd Gup Red and testing for I Gup Red.

  • What are the Six Factors of the theory of Power?

Students should be keeping a notebook which must be presented in order to test for I Dan Black Belts.
